Nearly 20 blasting caps found in a western Nebraska residence have been safely disposed of.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports NSP and Scottsbluff Police Department bomb squads disposed of 17 blasting caps found in a Box Butte County residence.
The Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office responded after getting a call that the blasting caps had been found in a shed. The deputies took the caps out of the shed and alerted NSP. Counter charges were used to render the devices harmless.
“Explosive devices are extremely dangerous, especially if you’re not sure where or when they came from,” Lt. Jim DeFreece, Commander of the NSP Bomb Squad, said in a written statement released by NSP. “If you ever find a device like this, or any other that may be explosive, call 911 and alert your local law enforcement agency immediately.”
