A 35-year-old man faces numerous charges after a nearly six-hour standoff with police ended with his arrest.
Columbus police, along with members of the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT team stormed the Columbus residence and arrested Justin Dittmer.
According to police, officers Monday attempted to pull Dittmer over after the car he was driving had been reported stolen in Fremont, but Dittmer refused. A pursuit began.
Dittmer crashed the car in a yard near 3rd Avenue and Air Vista Drive in Columbus shortly after noon. He ditched the car and broke into a nearby unoccupied house in the 2800 block of 3rd Avenue.
Dittmer faces the charge of possession of stolen property, driving during revocation, fleeing in a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, first degree trespassing, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dittmer has been jailed in Platte County.
