The Husker volleyball team has advanced to their seventh straight NCAA regional final on Friday after sweeping the No. 10 seed in the tournament, Kentucky. The SEC champs were no match for Nebraska, going down in games one through three 25-17, 25-20, and 25-23.
Game three was the biggest test for the Huskers. The Wildcats led by as many as seven points, before the Big Red rallied back. Trailing 22-18 in set three, Nebraska won seven of the next eight points to complete the comeback in that set, and to win the match.
Mikaela Foecke led the team in kills with 14. She also had 10 digs in the match. Outside hitter Lexi Sun wasn’t far behind Foecke in the kills column, finishing with 13 on the day. The sophomore also added 7 digs and a block.
Next, Nebraska will take on the winner of the Oregon and Minnesota match.
First serve for that match is set for 5 o’clock on the Big Ten Network.
