Just over one-quarter of employers in Nebraska plan to add more workers over the first three months of 2019, according to a new survey released by ManpowerGroup.
Spokesman Dave Wheeler says over 12,500 businesses across the U.S. took part in the survey.
“Of the employers surveyed in Nebraska, 27% plan to hire more employees from January through March,” Wheeler says.
Six-percent of businesses plan to reduce payrolls, while another 64-percent responded by saying they plan to maintain current staffing levels over the first quarter of next year.
Manpower’s previous survey covered hiring intentions for October through December.
“Compared to fourth quarter, we had a growth of 19% and first quarter of next year, we’re planning on growth of 27%,” Wheeler says. “So, significant growth over fourth quarter and fourth quarter is usually very strong, traditionally.”
Nationwide, the Manpower survey shows 23% of U.S. businesses expect to add employees between January and March. Another 5% anticipate a decline in their payrolls.
