Consumer and business confidence remain positive in Nebraska.
Bureau of Business Research Director Eric Thompson with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln says the bureau’s latest monthly survey confirms that consumer confidence has rebounded in the state due in large part to increased confidence in job security.
“There were relatively few houses where they expressed concern about job security,” says Thompson.
In fact, Thompson says the report indicates many Nebraska businesses can’t find enough workers to fill open positions.
“This suggests there should be a good supply of job opportunities for Nebraskans who are looking to enter the workforce or switch jobs.”
Thomson believes wage growth is also a contributor.
He says the while wage growth hasn’t been stellar, it has improved.
Thompson says that even a slight growth in wages could be a factor in higher consumer confidence in Nebraskans.
