Gov. Pete Ricketts has appointed the legislative aide to Sen. John Murante as his replacement.
Ricketts has appointed Andrew La Grone, an attorney and small business owner in Gretna, to fill the remaining two years of Murante’s term in Legislative District 49. Murante won election as state Treasurer.
“Andrew’s experience in private practice and work with the Unicameral make him well-prepared to represent the people of District 49,” Gov. Ricketts said in a written statement released by his office. “He is a solid conservative who will push to cut taxes, protect public safety, and champion pro-life policy. I look forward to working with Andrew to help grow our state in the coming years.”
La Grone, who is 28, founded La Grone Law. He served as legal counsel to the Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee in the Unicameral. La Grone has also clerked for Attorney General Doug Peterson.
La Grone holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The appointment becomes effective January 9th of next year when Sen. Murante steps down to be sworn in as the state Treasurer.
