A winter storm is making travel difficult, even dangerous, in parts of Nebraska.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation was forced to close a portion of Interstate 80 this morning. White out conditions caused by falling snow and high winds led to numerous accidents, forcing the closure of I-80 and U.S. 30 between North Platte and Lexington.
Southwest Nebraska up to the central part of the state seems to be bearing the brunt of the storm with snowfall reports totaling six inches in southwest Nebraska; four to five inches in other parts of the state.
Rain is falling in eastern Nebraska with more than an inch-and-a-half recorded at the Lincoln Airport.
