A Lincoln Police officer charged with drunk driving has resigned after 21 years on the force.
The Lincoln Police Department reports Officer Matthew Brodd resigned December 27th following an investigation into his wreck in early December.
Brodd lost control of his pick-up late in the afternoon of December 2nd and collided with a light pole on the northwest corner of North 45th Street and Vine Street while off-duty. Members of Lincoln Fire and Rescue took Brodd to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
The Lincoln Police Department received results of a chemical blood test from the Nebraska State Lab on December 13th which found Brodd’s blood alcohol content to be .173 at the time of the crash, well above the legal limit. Four days later, the department charged Brodd with aggravated DUI and also cited him for speeding too fast for conditions and for not wearing a seat belt.
