A couple of pursuits, a couple of arrests on Highway 11 in central Nebraska.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports a trooper stopped to check on a car parked on the shoulder of Highway 11 around one o’clock Sunday morning, but as he approached the vehicle, it took off. The vehicle stopped after a few minutes, with speeds only reaching around 40 miles per hour.
The trooper arrested 35-year-old Torres Rodriguez of Grand Island, for felony flight to avoid arrest as well as possession of methamphetamine and tampering with evidence. He was taken to the Hall County jail.
About four hours later, a trooper clocked a pick-up going 95 miles an hour on Highway 11 in Howard County. The pick-up picked up speed when the trooper attempted to pulled it over, driving through Cairo at more than 110 miles an hour. The pick-up reached 130 miles an hour at one point during the chase.
The engine in the pick-up caught fire, forcing it to stop. The trooper arrested 22-year-old Jacob Sautter of Ord for willful reckless driving, felony flight to avoid arrest, speeding greater than 36 miles per hour over the posted speed limit, and numerous traffic violations. He is also now a resident of the Hall County jail.
