A wrongful death settlement has been reached in the death of an 8 year old Omaha boy. National Interstate Insurance will pay the family of Haji Mohamed more than $260,000. The company continues to deny liability in the case.
The lawsuit named the insurance company, the Omaha Public School District, the school bus company and the driver in the incident that happened on April 9, 2018 in the northeast part of the city.
Investigators say the bus had stopped at a designated area and several students got off of the bus. The driver left the area but Mohamed ran in front of the moving bus and was hit. He later died.
The bus driver was not charged or ticketed in the incident.
