National Weather Service Meteorologist Brian Miller says, “It is a little early to fine-tune the details but we are looking at a weather system moving across the area late Thursday and continuing into the day on Friday and into Friday night bringing the potential for more accumulating snow. Behind that system will be much colder air dropping south from Canada into the Northern and Central Plains. Wind chill values in the Omaha and Lincoln areas by early Saturday morning will be well below zero – potentially 10 to 15 degrees below zero.”
Miller says that cold weather will continue throughout the weekend with high’s in the teens and 20’s and cold wind chill factors. It is a little too early to predict how much snow will fall but Miller says potentially, there could be several inches of accumulation.
That winter weather system potentially could impact most of Iowa and a portion of South Dakota as well.
