The Kansas City Chiefs are one win away from their first Super Bowl since 1970 and fans are snatching up merchandise like mad.
Jeff Marinovic with Scheels Sporting Goods at Village Point in Omaha says Chiefs apparel and other items are always big sellers but this year is like none other. Stocking the shelves can be a guessing game.
Marinovic says, “Certainly with the start they had this year it was easy to forecast that they were going to make the playoffs. What gets to be difficult is just knowing if they are going to make it to the Super Bowl because in the playoffs. It is win or go home so it is like dipping your toe in the water. You don’t want to make sure you don’t get too far in because you never know in the playoffs in the NFL, anything can happen.”
Marinovic says fans heading to Arrowhead on Sunday are buying a lot of cold weather items like sweatshirts, hats and anything with Patrick Mahomes’ name on it.
Marinovic says, “We have a lot of if-when orders with conference championship product or Super Bowl bound product pre-ordered and ready to go. It is just a matter of having that team win, the vendors we have orders with will ship the orders out. We have our fingers crossed they will get here as soon as possible.” He says that could take a couple of business days to arrive.
