Huskers gain two more walk-on’s over the weekend

January 21, 2025 By tim.sheridan@nebraskaradionetwork.com

The Husker football program picked up a couple more walk-on’s, providing the team more depth at several positions for the upcoming 2019 season.

Over the weekend, Loveland, Colorado quarterback Riley Kinney announced he’s walking-on as an athlete-wide receiver for the Huskers. Riley’s grandfather, Jeff Kinney, was the running back on Nebraska’s 1971 National title team.

Garrett Hustedt, a linebacker from Mount Michael in Elkhorn, has announced his commitment to walk-on. He is the 18th member of the 2019 walk-on class.

The 6-foot-2, 220 pound prospect chose Nebraska over a number of Division II offers, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
