Children’s Hospital and Medical Center of Omaha has issued a categorical denial of the claims against it made in a lawsuit filed by two Omaha surgeons.
In a statement, the hospital called the accusations baseless.
The hospital has filed its answers to the lawsuit and a counter-claim against Dr. Jason Miller and Dr. Mark Puccioni. The two accused Children’s Hospital CEO, Dr. Richard Azizkham, and Dr. Adam Conley of incompetence leading to the death of a seven-month-old child.
Miller and Puccioni filed a lawsuit earlier this month accusing the hospital of driving them off and attempting to ruin their reputation. Their lawsuit claims the hospital wants to control doctors and, thus, control its stream of revenue. Children’s Hospital responds that the two objected to the hospital hiring competitors.
Children’s Hospital, in the statement, said it took time to respond to the lawsuit, because of regulations protecting patient confidentiality as well as the nature of litigation and personnel matters.
