The government shutdown continues to drag on as the stalemate continues over border security. Senator Ben Sasse has a strategy to bring it to an end.
Senator Sasse says, “We should simultaneously be having a debate about long-time border security. We need to be reopening the government and we need to be going to Central and South America and kicking the crap out of some of the drug lords that are creating the instability that leads to these immigration waves.”
Senator Sasse goes on to say that people are losing faith in the government. He says, “We have a lot of Nebraskans who think DC couldn’t manage a 7-11 for a weekend and they are right. The way the fight is playing out is stupid.”
The Senate will vote on two different plans today. One would provide money for President Trump’s border wall while the other reopens the government with no wall funding. Both are expected to fail.
