The No. 14 Nebraska women’s tennis clinched its first Big Ten title Sunday, defeating Wisconsin 4-0. The Huskers share the title with Michigan after finishing 21-4 and 10-1 in Big Ten play. Nebraska next heads to the Big Ten championships at Indiana on Thursday as either the first or second seed.
Nebraska women’s gymnast Emily Wong notched a pair of top-10 finishes Sunday on the final day of the NCAA championships to earn third place in the all-around competition. In the men’s championships, NU’s Grant Perdue finished fourth on vault and Sammy Chamberlain finished third on parallel bars to pick up All-America honors.
The Nebraska baseball team picked up a doubleheader sweep with a pair of wins over the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday taking game one, 10-2, and then the Huskers rallied late with nine runs over the final two innings to win 10-4.
The Huskers then turned around yesterday for a 12-2 win, so they outscored a young Purdue pitching staff 32-8, to improve to .500 at 19-19 overall. A big test coming on Tuesday. The Huskers will play Kansas State. They lost two previous game in Manhattan, 10-8 and 9-1. Tomorrow they play in Lincoln.
