Nebraska senior forward Leslee Smith is returning to Lincoln to have his left knee further evaluated after he suffered an injury while playing for the British Virgin Islands, in the FIBA Caribbean Basketball Championships. The injury happened during a game this past Thursday.
Smith helped the British Virgin Islands to a 3-0 start, Smith was averaging 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Smith spent his first two seasons of college ball at SMU, including a redshirt year. He tore the ACL in his right knee in March of 2011. He spent the 2012-13 season at Seward County (Kan.) Community College, then transferred to Nebraska, where he averaged 5.4 points and 4.8 rebounds last season over 32 games, with one start.
